Why we do what we do
The following statistics demonstrate the shortcomings in the Leaving Care System:
Only 15% of young people leaving the Care System have 5 good GCSEs, including
English and Maths, compared with 60% of other young people
1/3 of care leavers leave school with no GCSEs
Young people leaving care are 3 x more likely to end up unemployed or
suffer from a mental health condition than their peers
27% of young people who have been in care end up in the prison
system
20% of young homeless people were previously in the Care System
70 % of sex workers have been in the Care System
